Tired!

I touched down Singapore on Thursday morning at about 1.30 am and reached home 2.30am. Took out my dirty laundry from my luggage and soaked them in the washing machine for washing in the morning. Then its off to bed. I woke up at about 10.00 am to wash my laundry and get ready for work. Yes, I had to go back to office in the afternoon to catch up on work, especially work related to AD&D as its the very next day!

Yup, this year I am in the AD&D committee. The AD&D is held at Neptune on Friday - theme Halloween. I left office at about 3.00pm to go back home and change before heading to Neptune. Then its work and play throughout the night. This year's dinner and dance is simplier as budget is tight. Mostly 'in-house' production I would say but luckily the feedback has been favourable. I guess people wants a break from the 'commercial' AD&D once in a while. No personal photos to entertain except for this picture of my 'blue-eyes'.

Scary hor? That's the whole intention since its Halloween. Anyway, I am really not suited to blue contact lens. But it's there for me to use - so dont waste it lor. $7 a pair lei.

In the end, I didn't stay for the dance segment for the AD&D as I was too tired. Headed home and slept till almost noon on Saturday before unpacking my luggage. Yeah, I didnt have much time to do it previously. In fact, I have not finished unpacking.

I managed to download my photos (over 300 of them!) onto my computer but I didnt have the time to tidy them and write the details down in my blog. Too tired! So sorry, you guys just have to wait. Akan Datang!

Another work of mine

Don't know what else I can post to entertain you fellows, so I thought I shall post up a picture of a pair of earrings I have made recently - in fact, recently means around the period of National Day in August! How time flies! Yup, it also means that I have been spending lesser and lesser time with my hobby.

And finally, I managed to touch up my jewellery picture with some more newly explored features in Adobe Photoshop. Let me know if you like the effect.

SO got it too

OK, SO also got "gastric flu", and I don't think he caught it from me because lately we have not been meeting up that often. I think the virus is everywhere, therefore avoid going out during this period if possible, especially with your kids.

My mum came up with this theory that the "gastric flu" germs came with the haze, that's why so many people caught it. Maybe there is some connection?

"Gastric Flu"

Who would guess that I would catch the bugs of "gastric flu", just like the students in schools? The suspected scenario is that my dad went to do some work at ACS and probably caught the bug from there. He was also having diarrhea the past 2 days and then somehow the bug got passed to me.

I had both diarrhea and vomitting. In fact, my vomitting was so bad that I could not even digest water or food. It was a really terrible experience. I had to eventually see a doctor. Guess what the doctor said to me? He said, "I am glad I do not need to send you to a hospital!" I was told to monitor my own temperature and if it hits 38.5 to 39 degrees celcius, I have to go back to him and get myself admitted into a hospital. I was also given 2 days of medical leave and told that this bug can spread.

Well, I would certainly hope to recover fully before my trip next week! Otherwise, I might not be able to taste the good food abroad!

Hair loss, new colleague, Emu Oil!

We have a new colleague on board, so our boss treated the new colleague and the rest of us in the department to lunch at Arena Country Club.

Our mindless chit-chat turned to focus on our one and only male colleague, who had been popping pills to grow back his hair on his balding patch. He was sharing with us that he took this pill called Proscar from MSD, which he bought from Thailand as drugs are generally cheaper there. Well, I must say, he is indeed showing result as we can all see fine hair growing back!

Unfortunately, there are side effects associated with this drug. Also, it is not suitable for the female species - potent even if it is just through skin contact during pregnancy!

My new colleague then introduced Emu Oil, which is oil harvested from the Emu bird itself. Apparently this oil can also help to reverse the signs of hair loss as it stimulates the scalp to encourage new hair growth. The best part is that there is no known side effect!

In addition, Emu oil itself also have several other uses. For example, it is a good moisturizer, a good relief for joint pains, heals burns and skin diseases. Read more about it here:
http://www.emu-oil.com/whatis.htm

My new colleague's god parents own an Emu farm in Australia! The next day, she generously presented all of us a bottle of Emu oil each. I am currently testing out it efficacy......

Walking Shoes

Because of my coming Japan trip, I have been hunting for a pair of suitable walking shoes (sneaker, to be exact). SO and I went to Queensway shopping center, but I could not find a pair that I liked. Well, actually I liked one of them but they don't have it in my size - a pair of Onitsuka Tiger by Asics @ $149. See some of their range below:

Though pricey, you just feel that there's fun, colour and feminity in their design. SO could not understand why I was unable to find any other pair out of the several hundred pairs of shoes sold in Queensway. Anyway, I was looking for a fun pair of sneaker, not one that reminds me of an exercise gear!

Well, a few days later while I was walking around Lot 1, I stumbled upon GOLA shoes in World of Sports. The design was somewhat something I was looking for. More importantly, the cut was very comfy, hence I was willing to be less fussy on the colours - yeah I know, army greenish right? Anyway, it's got pink in it, so that's another redeemption factor! Hee! Personally, I feel that this colour is rather easy to match... khakis, pink, white, beige, black & purple.

I thought the shoe laces were a bit dull, hence I bought a pink one to brighten it up a little. However, I have no idea that a 54" lace would look like this on my shoe:

Yup, way too long! Some improvision is required. In the end, I just cut off the excess, used a lighted to melt the ends so that they do not fray and tie a knot at the end of it. Here's the end result:

The sneaker definitely looks brighter and sweeter! The lace... bearable, since it is not a pair of Onitsuka Tiger!

Seventeen - and we are shy!

Although I mentioned that age is a secret, but I am not shy to declare that I am above the age of 30. However, I would still occasionally buy and read one of our local magazines called 'SEVENTEEN'. I know one of my close friends do too.

However, when we do buy SEVENTEEN, we buy in a hush-hush manner, so that the more sophisticated friends do not get a chance to pass snickering remarks like ,"Eh, you think you still teenager?"

The lure of SEVENTEEN for me - more affordable fashion spreads aka photos with less words. I don't really read the magazine for advices. And in any case, I don't seek out advices in the more womanly and less girly magazines like Her World and Female. I mean, com'on, those things are either cooked up or overly recycled! The only exception I find, is Simply Her magazine. That's a magazine with a style of their own and packed with information suitable for both woman and man actually.

So guess what, I bought the October issue of SEVENTEEN. :-) Ngeah...ngeah.... ngeah! So my dear friend who reads SEVENTEEN, want me to pass to you when I'm done?

The Neptune - closing down end of the year

The Neptune, managed by Meritus Mandarin, is located at 7th floor at Overseas Union House at Collyer Quay. It has been around for very long, but exactly how long I do not know. The restaurant was previously very famous for their topless dance performances, which they have stopped providing since April this year. I heard the whole building will be torn down by end of the year.

The food at Neptune is quite nice actually. They serve tim-sum for lunch and ala carte menu for dinner. If you like their food, should try catch them before they are gone. While you are there, you should also take a walk to the foyer to catch the sea breeze and a view of the Collyer Quay area.

My company's AD&D will be held there this year. I was there for food tasting a few weeks ago. Here's some pictures to share......and the food during the food tasting was fantastic!

Simple Minded

Oddlysimple

A lazy gal's wish to switch off her mind when faced with complicated instructions and situations and for a slower pace in life! Generally in a good mood unless provoked!

I am The Emperor

The Emperor represents structure, order and regulation - forces to balance the free-flowing, lavish abundance of the Empress. He advocates a four-square world where trains are on time, games are played by rules, and commanding officers are respected. In chaotic situations, the Emperor can indicate the need for organization. Loose ends should be tied up, and wayward elements, harnessed. In situations that are already over-controlled, he suggests the confining effect of those constraints.
